§ XII.01 — Manhattan

Custom closets in Manhattan.

Prewar co-ops and conversion lofts, boards and service elevators, plaster walls that are never quite square — Manhattan is the most demanding closet work in the city, and most of what we build.

§ 01
How we work in Manhattan

More of our work is in Manhattan than anywhere else, and no two buildings ask the same thing. A prewar co-op on Park Avenue has horsehair plaster, a board to satisfy, and a service elevator booked weeks out. A Tribeca conversion loft has cast-iron columns, sixteen-foot ceilings, and no square corner to start from. A Hudson Yards tower has glass walls, a concierge, and a certificate of insurance for everything that crosses the lobby. We draw to the building, not from a catalog.

Because every closet is milled to the survey, we work with what a Manhattan apartment actually gives us — the inch stolen back from a chase, the angled wall in a maisonette, the slab door that has to read flush against the original 1920s casing. The room is measured in person, drawn in CAD, and built to those exact dimensions in the Bronx.

§ 04
Logistics

We carry the certificates of insurance that co-op and condo boards require, schedule the freight elevator with the building, and protect the lobby, hallway and floors before anything is carried in. The workshop is twenty minutes from most Manhattan addresses over the Willis Avenue or Third Avenue bridge, so the same crew that mills your closet installs it — we do not subcontract.

Every project is milled at the Bronx workshop — a 6,000 sq ft workshop on the East River — and installed by the same crew that built it. We do not subcontract the install.
