Kloset Worx designs, mills and installs custom closets, dressing rooms and built-in storage. Founded in New York in 2008, the company works from its own workshop at 382 Canal Place in Mott Haven, the Bronx, and a second workshop in Dallas serving Dallas–Fort Worth. Every project begins with a free design visit and a personalized 3D design, is milled in-house, and is installed by the same crew that built it, never subcontracted. More than 3,000 projects since 2008; the cabinetry carries a 25-year guarantee.

Why prewar plaster defeats a closet from a box.
Prewar Manhattan apartments are almost never square, their ceilings often run nine and a half to eleven feet, and plaster and lath cannot carry a loaded rod. Catalog systems assume drywall, eight-foot ceilings and ninety-degree corners; a scribe-fitted room is how cabinetmakers solved it before flat-pack.

The honest cost of a walk-in in New York.
A maker publishes its price bands: reach-ins from about $3,500, compact walk-ins from about $18,000, whole residences from $300,000. The piece explains why two rooms with the same square footage can be completely different projects.

The double-hang math: more rail, no more square feet.
A second rod turns about four and three-quarter linear feet of hanging in a standard 60-inch reach-in into about nine and a half. The hard floor is roughly 84 inches of clear height, and in New York the limit is usually the plastered soffit over the closet door, not the room.

Co-op boards, COIs and the freight elevator.
In a New York building the cabinetry is only half of installation day; alteration agreements, certificates of insurance, work hours and elevator bookings decide the rest. Sometimes the freight elevator is a design constraint, because a full-height panel has to make the turn.

Small-space storage, and when custom is the wrong purchase.
Small New York closets usually fail by stopping too low, treating every garment the same, or pushing overflow back into the bedroom. A maker says plainly that a renter staying a year or two may be better served by a good rack-and-rod upgrade than by millwork.

A New York maker opens a workshop in Dallas.
After eighteen years in New York, Kloset Worx opened a second workshop in Dallas, bringing its drawn, milled and installed method to North Texas. Projects across Dallas–Fort Worth are milled locally and installed by the same crew.
