§ XII.06 — the Hamptons

Custom closets in the Hamptons.

Shingled cottages and modern beach houses on the South Fork — East Hampton, Southampton, Sag Harbor, Bridgehampton. Storage built for the way a summer house is actually lived in.

How we work in the Hamptons

A Hamptons house has a particular storage problem: it holds two wardrobes' worth of seasonal clothing, beach and house things, and guests, often in a shingled cottage with sloped ceilings or a modern build with long glass walls and few interior partitions. We design mudrooms that take sand and wet towels, bedroom closets that breathe through the off-season, and dressing rooms that feel like part of the original house.

We work the South Fork from late spring through the fall. The room is surveyed in person, drawn in CAD, and milled at the Bronx workshop, then installed by our own crew — we coordinate the trip so the install is a single, clean visit.

Logistics

We schedule Hamptons installs as a coordinated trip from the workshop, typically between June and September, so the work arrives finished and goes in over one visit. Floors and routes are protected before anything is carried in.

Every project is milled at the Bronx workshop — a 6,000 sq ft workshop on the East River — and installed by the same crew that built it. We do not subcontract the install.

§ FAQ Common questions in the Hamptons
Do you build custom closets in the Hamptons?

Yes. Kloset Worx designs, mills and installs custom closets, walk-in dressing rooms, pantries and built-in storage throughout the Hamptons. Every project is drawn in 3D, milled at our Bronx workshop (382 Canal Place, Mott Haven), and installed by the same crew that built it — we do not subcontract.

How much does a custom closet cost in the Hamptons?

It depends on the room. A reach-in typically starts near $3,500; a walk-in dressing room usually runs in the tens of thousands; a whole-residence program starts near $300K. You receive a fixed, written quote after we measure the room in person.

Is the design consultation free?

Yes. The first visit runs about an hour — at your home or at the workshop — at no charge and with no obligation. If you go ahead, any design fee is credited to your project.

How long does a custom closet take?

Roughly two to three weeks for a reach-in, four to six for a walk-in dressing room, and ten to sixteen for a whole residence, measured from the approved drawings. Every project is backed by twenty-five years on the cabinetry and a lifetime on the joinery.

Do you handle co-op and condo board requirements?

Yes. We carry the certificates of insurance that co-op and condo boards require, schedule the freight elevator with the building in advance, and protect the lobby, hallways and floors before anything is carried in.
