§ IV.11

Custom doors.

Solid panelled, fluted glass, leather-clad, painted to a color. From a single replacement to a coordinated set across a residence.

§ 01
Discipline

A door is the one piece of joinery you touch every day, and the easiest to get wrong. We draw and hang doors the way we draw cabinetry — passage, pocket, pivot and cabinet doors, flush to the wall or panelled to the room, true on their hinges for the life of the building.

Solid-core or stave-built, never a hollow blank. The reveal is even the whole way round, the swing is weighted to settle without a slam, and the hardware is set into the timber, not screwed onto it.

§ 02 Specification

  • Solid- or stave-core — no hollow blanks, no warp
  • Concealed hinges; the door reads as a panel of the wall
  • Pivot sets to 10 ft, weighted to settle without a slam
  • Hardware mortised into the timber, not surface-screwed
  • Finish and grain matched to the surrounding millwork
  • Pocket and double-leaf, designed into the same wall
